Questions

Everything a prospective client tends to ask.

Including the awkward ones. If something you need to know is missing, ask us directly — we will answer it here afterwards.

What is Buki, in one sentence?

Buki is a technology stewardship firm: we become the company that understands, manages and remembers all of the technology your business runs on, so that no single person has to hold it in their head.

Why would my company need this?

Because technology accumulates faster than anyone takes responsibility for it. A twenty-person firm can easily be running email, a domain, DNS, a website, a CRM, accounting software, payroll, a payments processor and a dozen subscriptions — bought at different times, by different people, some of whom have left.

Nobody is wrong here, and nothing is obviously broken. But no one can answer who owns the domain, what depends on it, or who to call when it stops working. That gap is what we fill.

What does Buki actually do, day to day?

We keep an accurate record of every system, vendor, account and dependency your company relies on. We watch the dates that matter. We answer your technology questions. We coordinate your vendors when something needs doing, and we handle routine administration ourselves when it is faster to just do it.

And we write down the important decisions — what you chose, what else you considered, and why — so the reasoning outlives the people who were in the room.

Can I talk to an actual person?

Yes, and that is the point. You get a named Technology Steward who learns your company and stays with it. You can email, call or message them, and they will already know what you run.

You will not be routed through a queue, and you will never be asked to talk to an AI instead of us.

What happens when Buki does not know how to solve something?

We say so, and then we find the person who does. No firm is expert in everything, and pretending otherwise is how small businesses end up with bad advice delivered confidently.

What does not change is who is responsible. We find the specialist, brief them properly, coordinate the work, check the result, and record what happened in your technology record. You are never handed a phone number and left to manage it yourself.

Does Buki replace my existing vendors?

No. Your developer, agency, bookkeeper and software providers keep doing their work. We are the layer above them that understands how it all fits together and coordinates between them.

In practice, good vendors tend to like having us there. They get clear requirements, fast access, and someone who can answer questions about the rest of the environment without a week of email.

Do I still own my accounts?

Yes — and where you do not yet, we will usually recommend fixing it. Domains, cloud accounts, software subscriptions and data should be registered in your company's name.

We may administer these systems for you, hold appropriate access, and renew things on your behalf. That is different from owning them. You should never be in a position where leaving us means losing something.

What happens if Buki disappears?

You keep operating. That is a design requirement, not a reassurance.

Because your accounts are in your name and your technology record is maintained to a standard another provider could pick up, the practical cost of losing us is finding a replacement — not reconstructing your technology from scratch. You can ask for a complete export at any time, without explaining why.

How does Buki handle sensitive information?

We deliberately do not run a password database of our clients' secrets. Wherever possible we record where a credential lives and how access is recovered, and let your own password manager hold the secret itself.

Where we do hold access, we hold the minimum required, it is tied to a named person, and consequential changes are logged with who requested, approved and performed them.

How much does it cost?

Record is $29 per month for a maintained technology record without a standing relationship. Stewardship is $399 per month and includes a named steward. Stewardship Complex starts at $899 per month for larger or more complicated environments.

Your tier is set by team size and by how many systems and vendors we would be holding for you. If those point at different tiers, the higher one applies. Substantial projects — migrations, custom software, full website rebuilds — are quoted separately.

Who is Buki for?

U.S. companies with roughly 5 to 50 employees, where technology matters to the business but is not the business — professional services firms, consultancies, law and accounting practices, real estate companies, small manufacturers, agencies and nonprofits.

The common thread is a company that depends on technology, does not want to hire a full-time technology manager, and would like a competent human to call.

How do I start?

Tell us about your company and we will arrange a conversation — no cost, no obligation, no sales sequence afterwards.

If it makes sense to work together, we begin with discovery: we find and document what you actually run, which is usually more than anyone expects. You will get something useful out of that step even if you decide to stop there.

Is there a contract or a minimum term?

No minimum term. It is month to month, and you can cancel with 30 days' notice — leaving with a complete, portable copy of everything we hold about your technology.

A firm that needs a lock-in clause to keep clients is telling you something. We would rather you stay because leaving is easy and you chose not to.

Are you an IT support company?

No, and the difference matters. We are not a helpdesk, we do not repair computers, install networks or staff an overnight operations centre, and we are not a software development agency.

We are the party that understands your technology as a whole and takes responsibility for coordinating it. When you need one of those other services, we will find you a good one and manage the relationship.

Getting started

Let's get your technology under control.

Tell us about your company. We will arrange a short conversation, tell you honestly whether we are a good fit, and leave you alone if we are not.
